Rise and shine!  Let's explore where we are for the next few days.  After breakfast, we will depart EcoCamp and head out on our first adventure to see the Base of Torres.

After breakfast, we set off westward by van along the scenic southern edge of Nordenskjold Lake. Our first stop is a stunning overlook, where we admire the diverse landscapes and explore the area's geomorphology, local flora, and fauna.
Next, we visit the breathtaking Salto Grande waterfall, where water cascades from Nordenskjold Lake into Pehoe Lake. A short walk takes us to the Cuernos viewpoint, offering a sweeping panorama of the iconic Horns, ideal for observing the flora and their connection to the local wildlife. We then
head to Pehoe Lake for lunch at Camping Pehoe, where bird songs create a serene atmosphere. After lunch, we embark on a two-hour trek to El Condor Lookout, ascending through steppe vegetation. At the top, we’re greeted with an expansive view of Pehoe Lake, the Paine River, and, on clear days, the Southern Patagonian ice fields. This day's adventure will end as we descend through an undulating terrain of mixed grassland and light forest, which will

Reaching Puerto Natales, the gateway to Patagonia, from the USA involves a two-step process, as direct international flights to its small airport (Teniente Julio Gallardo Airport) are unavailable.

The Most Common Route: Via Santiago (SCL)
Fly from the USA to Santiago, Chile (SCL):

Major Airlines: LATAM, American Airlines, Delta, and United offer direct flights from key U.S. cities like Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. Copa (via Panama City) and Avianca (via Bogotá) provide excellent connecting options.

Flight Duration: Direct international flights typically range from 8 to 12 hours.

Connect Domestically from Santiago (SCL):

Option 1: Direct to Puerto Natales (PNT) - Seasonal: During the Chilean summer (roughly November to March), LATAM and Sky Airline offer limited direct flights from Santiago (SCL) to Puerto Natales (PNT). This is the fastest domestic leg (around 3-4 hours).

Option 2: Fly to Punta Arenas (PUQ), then Bus - Year-Round: This is the most reliable option. Fly from Santiago (SCL) to Punta Arenas (PUQ) via LATAM or Sky Airline (approx. 3.5 hours flight). From Punta Arenas, take a bus to Puerto Natales (about 3-3.5 hours). Bus companies like Bus Sur and Buses Fernández offer frequent services, sometimes directly from the Punta Arenas airport.
