Travel to the community of Teotitlán del Valle for an in-depth cooking experience with Reyna Mendoza of Sabor Zapoteco. The day begins at the local market, where we'll explore ingredients, learn how they are selected, and understand their role in Zapotec cooking. From there, we'll move into a hands-on cooking class that goes beyond technique, offering insight into family recipes, seasonal rhythms, and the cultural meaning behind each dish, followed by a shared lunch.

In the afternoon we will visit the Vida Nueva Women’s Weaving Cooperative, a collective led by women artisans dedicated to preserving traditional Zapotec weaving techniques. We'll learn about the cooperative’s role in creating economic independence, sustaining ancestral textile practices, and supporting the community through collaborative work rooted in natural dyes and traditional looms.
